Orthodontics
Our smile is the first thing to be noticed when meeting others. It is both a powerful communication tool and a marker of confidence. Crooked or misaligned teeth can often dim our smiles or make us conscious in social settings. In the long run, this can become taxing.
Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that diagnoses and treats the mispositioning of teeth and jaws. The treatment involves straightening or correcting misaligned, crooked teeth and realigning one’s bite.
The Importance of Orthodontics
While many assume orthodontics to be an elective treatment in order to aesthetically improve one’s teeth and smile, this branch of dentistry offers more benefits than just a beautiful smile. In fact, most of the benefits offered are crucial in order to stay healthy and confident.
Improved Bite and Ability to Chew
Aligning the teeth correctly improves the bite, making biting into foods and chewing easier. The improved bite also eliminates issues like grinding of the teeth.
Enhanced Speech
Misaligned teeth can often cause impairments in speech, from an inability to pronounce certain to the possibility of a lisp. With your teeth corrected, your speech is enhanced, allowing you to communicate with ease.
Better Oral Health
With your teeth straightened, the gums and teeth become easier to clean, improving your overall oral health.

Metal and Ceramic Braces
Traditional metal braces are comfortable due to their small size and lower profile. We generally use these for teens and adults that are less concerned with the aesthetics. We also offer ceramic braces which offer the same low profile and metal braces however that are more discreet. Metal and ceramic braces work exactly the same.
Lingual Braces
For those with major alignment issues who are conscious of getting metal or ceramic braces in Cranbourne, lingual braces can work just as well. These are braces fixed to the back of the teeth, making them invisible to others while still being effective. Compared to clear aligners used in treating minor alignment issues, metal and ceramic braces offer effective treatment, irrespective of the severity of misalignment.
Retainers
Retainers are a common orthodontic appliance recommended by dentists once the braces have been taken off. These are prescribed in order to maintain the corrected position of the teeth in the long term so that they do not shift back to their earlier position.
